Visit – Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)
Who Needs a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)
A Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) is a document that allows individuals who are otherwise inadmissible to enter or remain in Canada. A TRP is granted when the applicant’s need to visit or stay in Canada outweighs the risk of their presence in the country. For instance, someone may receive a TRP for a business trip to Canada if their visit provides significant benefits to the country or its citizens.
Duration of Stay for TRP Holders
A Temporary Resident Permit is typically issued for the duration of the applicant’s planned visit to Canada. For example, it might be issued for one week to attend a conference. TRP holders must leave Canada by the permit’s expiry date unless they apply for and receive a new permit before the current one expires.
